“If you are a serious writer wanting to complete a work of writing then you must work with Julia mcNeal and here’s why:

Julia combines her expertise of the English language, acting, writing, playwriting, dance and teaching with a deep intuition. Her passionate guidance comes straight from the heart as big, empathic and warm as the sky is endless.

She was able to help me cut at least 100 pages of writing while explaining why this would lighten the story and burst open the characters.

She gleaned the depth of the story, understood the motives of my characters, and encouraged me to delve into areas I never knew I could.

She must have read and reread my manuscript 4-5 times, never sickening of the material; continuously praising the strengths of my writing, while cutting out more pages and making one remarkable suggestion after another. She was there to answer many questions, and to help me through those times I was stuck.

In truth, I almost didn’t want to finish my novel, because I didn’t want to end my work with her. However, the novel is finished, and Julia?

Well, she will be the editor for my next piece of writing!”

Non-Fiction

How grateful I am to Julia for copyediting my book. In addition to her incredible attention to detail, the minor adjustments she made throughout the text made every part clearer, tighter and more readable. She very quickly was able to “get” who I am and the message I was delievering, and made sure that it was my voice that was speaking to the reader. In fact, one reader said, “Annie’s warmth and perspective is clear on every page and those of us who know her can almost hear her speaking the words while we’re reading each page.” This is exactly what I wanted! Thank you, dear Julia! You’re the best!

1. What was the obstacle in your mind that would have prevented you from using me?

“When I first thought about hiring Julia (or any copy editor), I was skeptical that she would find very many errors or problems with my manuscripts. Before I gave them to her to edit, I had had many other people read and comment on them. Plus, I am a grammar and spelling and usage fanatic, so I was sure between my readers and me that we had caught all the problems and goofs. I thought I was done, and ready to publish, and perhaps I didn’t need a copy editor. Boy, was I wrong!”

2. What did you find as a result of buying from me?

“Julia is a style and usage expert. She caught all my misplaced punctuation and awkward phrases. “

3. What did you like most about buying from me?

“What I liked the best about her copyediting of my work is that she went one step further. Because I end up explaining somewhat complex ideas in my books, what I’m talking about has to make sense to the reader. She helped me revise the parts of the book that weren’t clear to her (and wouldn’t be clear to my readers, either). I got more than I paid for.”

4. What would be 3 other benefits about me?

“Julia turned my work around very quickly. She also re-edited some of the parts of my book that I had needed to fix, based on her first edit. Her editing helped my books really communicate with my readers.”

5. Would you recommend us? If so, why?

“I would highly recommend Julia’s editing skills.”

6. Is there anything you’d like to add?

“Everyone, including NYT bestselling authors, need a copy editor. Julia is a great choice.”

Memoir

“Julia did a truly outstanding job of copy editing for me. She not only caught grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors but sentences and thoughts that were unclear and needed rewriting. She was very thorough, prompt and ever so gentle and encouraging in her responses to my work. I highly recommend Julia and I look forward to working with her again soon.”
